Because it represents being full already and usually would induce a fold from someone also not full. Whereas if you lead the flop and are smoothcalled or raised, you don't know where you are and cannot hit a card to make you the nuts other than the case 8 in case he has JJ. But once I was called on that checkraise, I would be through with the hand.

Bluff - so you are effectively bluffing.

Why would you bluff with this hand?

Because it plays bad OOP and is often a stack dumper.

Bluff - I agree with you, but I was wondering if you would consider trying to get to a cheap(ish) showdown with the hand, rather than bluff with it?
Do you choose to bluff with it because you have one of the key-cards .... making it more likely for the bluff to succeed?

I don't consider it a bluff, its more like a semi-bluff. In my mind its like betting (in holdem) the open ended straight draw when there is a flush draw out there... be careful.

its more like semibluffing with the straight draw when there are 3 flush cards on the board.

Also, for a semibluff to be correct, you must have outs if you are called. In this situation, you might be drawing dead or nearly dead when called.

OK, time for results.
When I c/r the flop it's obvious to the Villain (if he's not stupid) that I have an 8, or maybe I'm full already. He still calls.

So I put him on an 8, or JJ, or maybe 2 overpairs. The Turn brings the 2nd J so his 2 overpairs are no good.

If he has JJ or J8 then he's welcome to my stack. If he has AKQ8 then I'm behind but still drawing live to my own house, and I might have some fold equity on him.

River comes a 6, I have a house, he can only chop with 86xx or else he had me beaten from the flop.

Villain shows A834ds and mhig.

Its a bluff because he check/raises hoping that the opponent folds ... and is done with the hand once he is called.
