From the OP's description of his friends' financial situation the friend will not have all of his credit card debt forgiven. [/ QUOTE ] The OP's description of his friend's financial situation is that he's selling off his furniture to pay his rent. I doubt he's got discretionary income to pay off his credit card debt. Regardless, your statement that the new BK law prevents people from discharging credit card debt is still wrong. He may not be sleeping soundly, but that's because he hasn't got a bed - not because of BK law, new, old or otherwise. |

$27,000 in unsecured debt.
Chapter 13. $500 a month for 3years = $18,000 Lawyer paid $500 up front. Rest of fee is part of $18,000. Lawyer paid first, court paid second(for distribution of funds),creditors paid next. Credit offers started coming in after 3 months. |

If Party wants to push the issue they file a protest with the bank 2 times and if he doesnt pay police arrest him for fraud, writing a check knowing the money is not there.
If bank doesnt get paid they send it to Chex Systems Inc. and he will not be able to open a bank account at any bank until he pays the $1500 plus expenses. |
