Worst job?
What's the worst job you've ever had? I know worst is subjective, but here's mine.
Last summer, my Dad decided that he was going to do me a favor and get me a job at the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and ari-conditioning) company that he worked for; I was told that, essentially, I would be a go-fer for the guys who actually had HVAC experience. And this was pretty much what I did for the first week. I didn't know that I'd be working a full forty hour week though, and the next week was pure hell. My new assignment consisted of arriving to a newly built mall about 45 minutes away at seven in the morning. I then spent the next eight hours in an unair-conditioned, badly ventilated, half-built mall, twenty-five feet off the ground in a hydraulic lift. In the middleof summer. In south Texas. Drilling and hoisting large, metal AC units to the ceiling. And wrapping those units in insulation. I came home itchy, hot, and exhausted. I quit after my second week, despite making around $400 a week. I thought I was going to die. |

Re: Worst job?
I washed dishes in a restaurant for two shifts when I was in high school. God, did that suck. After my second shift I quit and never went back.

Re: Worst job?
Probably relay operator for the deaf was most hated. But I somehow held it for a few months before getting fired. I walked out on a pizza parlour after a couple months.

Re: Worst job?
I thought that being a bicycle messenger would be a dream job for me. I love biking. Heavy traffic, heavy pollution (in the downtown area), extreme stress with no rewards...
I lived in San Francisco at the time... a city in which people don't talk to strangers... so when TWO separate strangers within two days asked me "Are you okay?" with no preamble, I decided I must not be. I have never hated life as much since I quit. |

Re: Worst job?
Quite a few years ago I worked on a farm as a strawberry picker. I had to get up at 5AM and crawl in the dirt often in the pouring rain for hours. Rainy days especially sucked cuz it often made the berries go bad, and we were paid by the pound.
