Re: TheKansas Jayhawks are a win away from bein the #1 team in the cou
Well, I know how to put it:
I was in the stands at Allen Field House 3 December 1956 when Wilt lit it up for 52 points against Northwestern (87-69) in his first varsity game. I was in the stands at Miami’s Orange Bowl in ’69 when Bobby Douglass and John Riggins went down to Penn State 15-14 because KU had 12 men on the field for four of the last six plays. I was at the team hotel post-game in Kansas City in 1988 the night Danny and the Miracles improbably whipped Oklahoma 83-79 to take the national title at Kemper Arena. Tonight’s game is bigger... If we win. As far as I’m concerned, the Big XII title game and any subsequent BCS events are wholly irrelevant and any notion of Kansas becoming the national intercollegiate football champion in any year is preposterous... But it is fun. |
