Re: Beat: Ingerland is crapping the bed in a big way
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Also massive LOL at blaming McLaren for all this. Clearly he was not the best choice for the job, but the players simply couldn't get it together on the pitch. [/ QUOTE ] Meh, if you rate the players individually (how they play for their clubs) then England are amongst the best national teams in the world. [/ QUOTE ] This is a long-held myth that is partially responsible for the inflated expectation and pressure that surrounds the English national team. You have no remotely world-class keeper (FWIW, hindsight notwithstanding, I didn't think it was a bad choice to play Scott Carson; Robinson has proved again and again that he's not a top keeper). You have arguably one world-class striker, arguably none. Look who appeared on the field tonight; Jermaine Defoe couldn't *pay* his way onto the Italian, Brazilian, Argentinian, or Spanish *squads*, let alone the pitch. Depth at certain positions is nonexistent; try to name a world-class team Wayne Bridge would ever suit up for. |
