I don't know, man. Unless you're one of ten people in the world capable of doing that particular job, a salary that high is just because it's actually a 50k/yr job where you're a 5:1 dog to live through it.

I don't think the odds of dying are that high. You people take things very literally, even for poker players. I do see two different scenarios under which GtrHtr gets offered a plum job, and only one of them makes it a good idea to take it.

1) He's one of a small number people in the world with the combination of skills, training, and experience to fill the position effectively. Since demand (1 unit) out-paces supply (currently 0 units), whoever is offering the job is willing to pay a lot of money for these premium skills.

2) The last five guys got killed --> probably not a good idea.
