I still don't get your argument for limping small/middle pairs in EP. You say it decreases variance, but all limping really does is increase the chances that a good player can put you on a hand. If you run 9/2 UTG, your range is so narrow that it's easy to put you on an exact hand.

I used to limp 22-99 UTG, and it's just a total profit killer.
