Default weight fluctuations

How much does your weight tend to fluctuate on a daily basis?

I ask because since I've tried to lose weight in earnest, I've started weighing myself more frequently, and I notice fluctuations of a couple of pounds even on a daily basis, which makes it hard to assess my progress. If I actually only weighed myself once a week, I really don't think I'd get an accurate picture.

So if you're in a cutting phase, how often do you weigh yourself? And is there one particular time of day that is most appropriate? Or does it suffice just to be consistent?
