Got a Lexus RX 2002 so I can second your comments. If you're gonna get a RX, definitely consider getting post 2005. Newer generation bumped up the interior to try to keep ahead of the competition.

Also Lexus took #1 in JD Power for reliability for like the last 3 years. Main reason I didn't consider BMW and god forbid, Mercedes.
