My security consulting company tried to contact Absolute Poker in late September, and sent a pre-proposal describing several services we could provide including
[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] a review of past hands to determine the scope of the information leak, if any, [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] implementation of an automated system to detect anomalies, and [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] preparation of a report suitable for public release backed by our reputations. Absolute Poker would not be the largest gaming client we have had, and we believe our offer had obvious value and would have prepared them for this scandal, whether it broke open or not. However, they delayed, requested more information, and then stopped responding even to basic courtesies. I found their response unusual and irrational. Not all of our proposals are of interest to gaming companies, but I have never encountered a response that poor. It seemed like those with whom we corresponded were in CYA mode or felt that they would be implicated by any investigation. I wish 2+2 luck. |
