DST Short Status Test Fail

When I tried to start up my Dell Inspiron 9300 nothing happened. I ran a diag test and got this error:

DST Short Status Test Fail
Error Code: 1000-0146
Msg: Unit O:IDE Status fail Status byte=64 ControlCode=1 Msg=No 2 Additional sense information

Everything Ive read online tells me that my hard drive has gone bad...I just got a new freaking hard drive 6 months ago when I got the blue screen of death. WTH is wrong with my computer??

Do I just need to try and reinstall the OS?
