Re: SSNL Demography 10/07
To elaborate, I think that I had about peaked as to what I could expect as a regular tournament player, and it wasn't enough money and the variance was too much. The only way to counter it is to play tons of small tournaments, but that requires huge time commitments. I wanted to make better, more consistent money; I want to be able to play for a half hour or hour at a time if that's all I feel like playing; and last but not least, I want to actually get better at poker, and starting out in HU cash games, I feel like my ceiling is high.
I'm already making about as good money as I would have as a tourney regular, but probably in fewer hours, with less variance, and I'm going to be moving up soon, and consistently (I hope). The only thing I'm missing out on is the opportunity for a really big score, but I'll probably start playing some of the big tournaments again eventually. (I made a promise that I wouldn't subject myself to a single tournament this month, though.)
