Default odd sized bets....

i often see people putting in very odd sized bets.
For instance, at nl25 a PFR to 85 cents, or 65 cents. maybe a flop bet of $1.35.
At NL50 i see PFRs of 1.90, or a flop bet of 3.40. I also just saw $9.95 which is what got me thinking. are they trying offer me a deal that isn't as good as it seems like in the supermarket, or do they want there to be a pile of chips for me to look at rather than a single $10 chip?

what do these mean? On stars, on can click the slider until they get to approx percentage of the pot they want to bet. It increases of increments of 25c on nl25 and 50c on nl50 and so on. Why are some people so deliberate?

im just interested to know what every1 thinks about this...
