And there I was like a deer in headlights
I was playing a 2-5 game, and the dealer asked if anyone wanted to deal for a second while he took a short break. I was real stuck so I decided I'd take a second to cool off and deal. Big pot starts forming J59 on flop, 25 bet one call, Q on turn, 125 bet/call, 9 on river, check, allin for 702. So the guy sits there and thinks for a second. Then asks "you going to show me if I fold?" the girl nods. He turns over a Q and tosses it into the board and says "I've got a queen" the girl nods and puts her cards forward face down (past "the line" but not into the muck). The guy now shows his other card (5) and demands that his he gets the pot. The girl doesn't show her hand, but instead protests and says that he didn't say "call", and because he put his hand in the muck (even though it was face up) it's dead now. And they look at me. I think "what the hell did I get myself into" and yell for the manager, but apparently he had taken that moment to step out. So I went over the hand with the people involved, made sure they knew what happened, and in the end they decided just to chop the pot.
What was the right call here?
Who should I have awarded the pot?
(I'm aware that I shouldn't have been dealing in the first place, and I will never make that mistake again)
