Default USD BBBBBV

So today I had to cash a wire into CAD to transfer some money to a mortgagee.

Beat: First time I've received less than a dollar CAD for my USD dollar.

Brag: I've been able to hook up with a foreign exchange company (GlobEx) that charges about a point on the dollar, rather than the 3-4 points you'd pay at a conventional bank. For non-US players I would really suggest doing a quick google and find a local foreign exchange specialist, since they will save you buckets of money.

Brag: When pretty much everyone was in agreement that the dollar would reach parity at some point earlier in the year I cashed what was about 30% of my bankroll into CAD and held it on Click2Pay at 1.04-1.06.

Beat: Click2Pay isn't really equipped to handle the industry and refuses to do wires for any significant amount, since they have their panties on when it comes to money laundering regulations.

Beat: Rather than cash out further funds earlier on to fund some real estate projects I used a large chunk of the C2P money by depositing to FT and then having them wire me the cash.

Variance: About a month after heckling C2P to actually wire me some of the CAD (sidenote: C2P's charges no exchange rate when doing currency conversion) they kind of wired me the sum I'd requested out of the blue. They were "relieved to hear that I actually received the funds."
