they are in charge of the broadcast and they are the ones capable of 'keeping it going from there'.
They are supposed to have the realization that going on and on about that is alienating to some of their listeners and that there are totally different outlets for soccer discussion.

What they are essentially saying by continuing to talk about soccer is: "Well, we're kind of bored of talking about this poker game even though it's heads-up for the biggest online prize-pool in history. So since we're bored with poker right now we're going to talk about soccer instead."
