Lets say the average duration of a regular is 15 minutes .
The average duration of a turbo may be 12 minutes .

We may get 4 regulars in one hour or 5 turbos in one hour . So since your variance is a direct function of your win rate , then you should experience more variance playing in the turbos since your win rate will be lower .

If you win 60% playing regs , then your $/h = .60units/h

For your $/h to be more playing regs we need the following to hold true . Let x be your win rate playing turbos .

5*(2*x-1.05)<=0.6/h or x <=58.5% .

So if you take a bigger hit than 1.5% ,from the transition of regs to turbos , then you shouldn't be playing in the turbos for this particular example .
