Situation 1 I'd either check call or check raise depending on who bets and how many people are in the hand. If enough people are in the hand go for the check raise as a pot equity raise. If its shorthanded or you expect it to be short just check call your getting the odds to continue so do it. I'd probably lean towards check calling though since 4 of your outs could give you the 2nd nuts.

Situation 2- is pretty much the same except i'd be more inclined for the check raise if you have an equity edge because you have 8 outs ot the nuts.

**EDIT** This is assuming you are pretty sure someone will bet, after reading some of the other posts I agree that table texture is very important and leading out here could be a good decision depending on the players at your table.
