Default Brokerage funds insured?

Thinking of putting some $$ with an online broker (firstrade) - does anyone know if funds are insured by the gov with these brokers like they are in banks? these brokers are with the CFTC, does this help if they go under? with all the credit problems how much of a worry should this be? Thanks!
