Default \'twas November 24th, 1914...

The `Great War' had been raging for a few months. A dark cloud had descended across Europe. The genocide in Armenia was but a few short months away. Heavy fighting took place around the cities of Strykov and Lodz. The worst phases of the battle of Ypres had finished... or so they thought.

Trenches and barbed wire stretched across the continent. Faint whiffs of mustard gas could be smelt in the air, overlaid by the thick stench of smoke from burning oil. Soldiers huddled together for warmth against the harsh wind that pierced even the thickest greatcoats. And no-one, from the loftiest general to the lowliest private, could see any end to the horrors that had already taken place.
