Default Who is Avery Cardoza?

I guess I am not a good person for first impressions. I was wrong about my thoughts on Barry Tenenbaum.

Out of boredom, while browsing a book-store, I opened an Avery Cardoza book. In the intro, Avery says that he was once a professional card counter, was kicked out of every casino in Nevada, and decided to open a book publishing company.

When I first started to gamble (pre-poker), I read some of his stuff, and looking back, I see how unscientific all his books were. I understand that the need to sell books trumps the need for quality, but he did manage to nail the SS series.

So, who is this guy? Was he ever a successful gambler. Does he gamble at all. Is he capable of putting out higher level product? etc?
