Default Read vs Read early shove

Live tournament. I've played the villain a few times before and he is an above average player. Very much a thinker (which is why I tried this).

Villain knows me as a decent player and very aggressive.

Stacks:
Villain 22,550
Hero 19,700

9 handed
Blinds 50/100

Villain raises to 250 MP
Hero defends BB KQcc'

Flop 3c 9c 8d
Hero checks
Villain bets 350
Hero raises to 1,000
Villain reraises to 3500 (obv I know he has an overpair here)
Hero Shoves.

I shoved because I know he is capable of folding his overpair. If he doesn't fold then I am ahead of TT/JJ, wrong side of the coin flip against QQ and in trouble against KK/AA.
