poll about getting back extra change....
I went to a fast-food chinese place for lunch today, and the bill was $4.54. I gave the cashier $5.04, and I was surprised to see him readying 3 5's and 50c back to give back to me. As he handed me back the $15.50, I looked at it strangely and told him, "I think I gave you a $5.". He opened up the register again, and sure enough, a $5 was on top of the slot for $20's. He thanked me, and that was that.
Now I know you guys have probably all been through something like that, and hopefully did the right thing.
But here's my question, which I don't think I've seen answered here before. If there's a fair amount of doubt in your mind as to whether you gave the guy a $5 or a $20 (like, you thought you gave him a $5, but upon further review, you're not totally sure), would you still say anything? Or would the risk of being out $15 outweigh the possibility that you took extra change back?
