Avatars definitely have an effect on me. Often, when I see a long-timer change their avatar I'll be like "Whoa, that doesn't fit him at all". But it likely does, it just doesn't fit my misconstrued perception of who they were prior.

Also, you can always tell who the young kids are when you see lame avatars of chicks or whatever.

People with blinking/flashing avatars need to die. Sometimes it's difficult to even read a page when all you see out the corner of your eye is blinking of some dumb-ass's obnoxious avatar.

I don't understand all the hate for hot chicks in avatars. I can understand someone being offended by these avatars, and if someone honestly wanted me to change mine I would. What I don't get is how people just assume that the poster is a frat boy or a jerk or whatever
