Re: Possibly hashing could help?
[ QUOTE ]
Juk, I was just about to say the hash funciton is a great idea, BUT PartyPoker could just easily run that 1-way hash function on all their games/players, and match them up that way. This assumes that PP would know what the hash was, which is reasonable. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I forgot the hash would have to be public, so the 1-way function used would be an obvious target for them. [ QUOTE ] That was almost perfect though! And heck, it may be good enough (i.e., safe enough) for people who just have $100-200 in their account. [/ QUOTE ] It's quite an interesting problem and I gonna keep thinking about it, but I think it comes down to the fact that an impostor in the sharing 'cell' will always be problematic. Perhaps if I think about exactly what data/keys need to be public to still avoid dupes and minimize data transfers (assuming a central trusted controller possibly?) then it may be possible. I wondering if any of the P2P software has researched stuff like this before? Juk |
