Beat: Biggest Downswing of My life (They Keep Tarping Me)
Now at -11 buy ins. I am a lowly 50c/$1 player who was just about to move up to $1/$2 until I hit this road block.
I think the player pool may be taking notes on me and passing them around, which has led my strategy to be exploitable. My stats are at about 18 / 16 and I base my continuation betting decisions on the flop texture and the % of flop bets they call. Unfortunately I believe my opponents have caught onto this, and when I make continuation bets they think, "I have bottom pair, this is a good spot to trap." Seeing that their stats are 58 / 3 I decide that firing a 2nd barrel will be justifiable, seeing as how I don't think they have a whole lot... Little do I know that I am unwittingly being caught in their trap. When the river blanks, they lead out into me for 1/10th of the pot, trying not to give away the strength of their hand (they know bottom pair is the nuts against me due to my overly agressive stats that they are almost certainly keeping track of). They obviously are looking to get value out of ace high, or perhaps further exploit my agressive nature by inducing a bluff from a suited connector that missed. I comply, raise to 3/4 of the pot. Villain tanks... They are very marginally concerned that since I raised preflop, and have fired on every street that it's possible I may have a hand, however unlikely. Eventually they decide to call getting 2.3 to 1, with the sound knowledge they only need to win the hand about 30% of the time to break even on the call(I assume this is their thought process, they may be thinking a little deeper than I can comprehend). I am thinking about reworking my game as I can now see the value of limp calling for deception with a wide range (I think about 50% of all starting hands might be a good place to start).. If this doesn't work out I might start playing Omaha only where I have heard the players are more fishy. BBV, am I on the track to recovery??? |
