My PC was overheating so I decided to double check the CPU/Fan ..
My computer has been switching itself off a few times recently. I thought this was due to the CPU overheating so I checked the BIOS which showed the CPU temp at 72oC (this was a few minutes after it had been cool enough to boot again)
The CPU fan needed cleaned so I took it out and took all the fluff/hair/dust/whatever off. The thermal compound looked in bad shape so I figured i'd clean it off and replace it too. Now when I plug everything back in and hit the power switch nothing comes up on the monitor, the PC doesnt sound like it's booting either. I took the fan off again and tried powering up without it but the PC will only stay on for a few seconds before powering off. So... does this sound like a fried CPU or what? CPU was an amd 2600, mboard a7n8x.. |
