At the end of my session I sat out and asked him if he had the flush, he said nope I had a small pair. Which lends me to believe he did flop a flush

In this hand on the flop I thought I was WA or WB and thought I might check to try to induce a bluff on the turn. The small bets through me off as it led me to believe he had a weak hand or trips and was trying to drag me along.
