why is winning "consistently" so important? Or to put it another way, why do we assume this should even be a goal?
WHAT? Most people want to win consistently, I think. An extreme example: If a person plays 363 days of the year and loses each time, then plays the 364th day and wins more than he lost during the rest of the year, it's a nice win but it could be a little hard on the bankroll and the liver. Winning three times out of four would be a nice consistency to enter onto the record sheet and some of those wins could be big ones from big games. More caveats up front from Sam might have been useful. The first part of the book is aimed at beginners. There is a summary paragraph on page 25 which sets out the goal, but it may not stick with the reader. That kind of thing is repeated more often later. |
