Worst TV Commercial in History? Commerce Casino--\"Pocket Aces\"
Is this the worst commercial ever made? It is shot on horrible low-grade videotape. The theme is "What does it feel like to get pocket aces at the Commerce Casino?" The cast is two guys, who look almost the same and are hard to tell apart. They are both in their 30s with short brown hair. The main guy, in a dark shirt, gets two black Aces. He seems to bet 200 dollars preflop. Then the commercial start cutting to the black shirt guy riding on a roller-coaster and yelling like an idiot. Then the flop has an Ace and two small cards (two diamonds on the flop). Nothing seems to happen betting-wise on the flop. On the turn, a third diamond hits the board (the board is not paired). Only now does the black shirt guy (with his set of Aces on a 3 diamond board) say "I'm all in." He splashes a huge pile of chips (20-30 thousand dollars?) into the pot. His opponent INSTA-CALLS. His opponent must have a flush, right? (I mean, I know this is a dumb commercial, but I am trying to follow "the action" anyway...). The opponent splashes the pot also. The hero of the commercial looks to lose a lot of money very quickly, it seems. Now there are more shots of the black shirt guy screaming on a roller-coaster (at a theme park by himself, by the way...) But, alas, the river card is the case Ace. The hero cheers for himself and the camera pushes into those weird horse statues they have at the Commerce. The end.
Why does such a profitable casino air a commercial that looks like it cost 10 dollars to make, and was directed by a semi-retarded film student?
