Re: SSNL [LIFE] THREAD AUGUST
Orange,
Good idea on the movies. I'll throw out a few that I have enjoyed over the years that might not be popular with today's youngsters 1) The Great Escape and Stalag 17. Two excellent WW2 movies set in German POW camps 2) Ben Hur - I wish I could see this at an IMAX theatre for the chariot race. 3) Singing in the Rain -- While most people think of it as a musical, it is actually a very funny comedy that stands the test of time. 4) My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany's - Two very good movies with Audrey Hepburn. 'nuff said 5) The Manchurian Candidate (original with Sinatra) - Very chilling cold war movie that was released (and pulled) shortly before Kennedy was assassinated. 6) Planet of the Apes (Original) -- The ending, while well known today, was quite shocking at the time and quite chilling, considering the state of the Cold War. |
