My question is, am I wasting my time trying to master LHE. Is it a dead end for building a good roll and moving up in stakes? Should I just focus my energy on NL which I am better at right now?

If your primary poker goals are to make money and move up in stakes, I think your time is best spent in NL. If you put the me of three years ago in today's smallish stakes LHE games, I don't know if I'd have gotten to be able to build a large BR in LHE or not. I'm not ready to call it a dead end, but, NL is by all means the easier game to get wealthy in today.
