I guess I completely misunderstand this custom. If I were to show you a frame by frame video of two players meandering towards the bathroom, I suppose you could place your finger on the slide where it becomes permissible for the two to converse about the previous hand?

I started playing poker in home games in college where I was more interested in understanding poker theory by way of playing and discussing hands with friends than I was in ekeing out a few bucks. That it should be impermissible to do the same at a casino because some other people might be trying to make money to feed the kids (but okay if you're 3.5 feet away from your chair!) seems ridiculous to me.
