As far as living, Southwest Area is decent, good access to the Strip. If you go that route, I would try to live close to the 215 and not be forced to use Blue Diamond as your route to I15 (never ending construction).

If you go with Henderson, then just make sure it's not Old Henderson (Older Southeast part of Henderson, I.E. Fiesta Casino, Boulder Highway), unless you go far enough towards Boulder City that you are in new developments.

Henderson (Green Valley/Anthem/Seven Hills), Summerlin (and most of West LV that isn't in Summerlin), Northwest, Southwest, are all fine places to live IMHO.

Mainly just avoid North LV, East LV (some parts not really that bad), and Central LV.
