The only way to broadcast is with a tape delay, if you tape delay, the players must be sequestered. While sequestration harms friends and family who are there who can't watch live, the broadcast helps bring the event to friends and family who are not there. By the way, watching live in a stadium and not being able to see hole cards is boring as hell, I'd take the tape delay broadcast any day as a poker fan.
Television/broadcasting of events can be looked at multiple ways. Short term, the players are being inconvenienced, forced to show their hole cards (which all the top players who have now made millions due to television did not want to do), etc. Long term, television and broadcasting create more interest in the game, and have created the massive fields and corresponding massive purses we see at the World Series today.
