It definitely happens, just like in most countries. Obviously I'm probably not going to meet my future wife from some drunken hookup but...

Also, I'm in Laos, not in Thailand, the sex capital of Asia. For example, last week I meet a girl in a Lao club where I'm one of two falang and maybe half the people are gay or ladyboys. And just to avoid the obvious joke, no, she was not a ladyboy. If you're a hooker, this is clearly not the place you go to meet rich white guys. I've picked up girls before in Asia and Western countries, and obviously "hey, before we go back to my place, you're not a hooker, right?" would be a deal breaker in most cases.
