Default Baccarat any thoughts?

Is each hand truly independent as in the spin of the roulette wheel? For example if the player just came up 5 times in the row and since the beginning of the shoe there have been a total of 15 players and 4 bankers. Since the rules slightly favor the banker, wouldn't future hands be heavily weighted towards the banker? Or is this just an illusion? Since I haven't seen any books on it from reputable people I'm guessing it's not beatable, but just wanted to see some opinions. It also seems to have less streaks then roulette. I was wondering if using a strategy like a martingale progression when you only start betting in situations similar to those described above. From the few tables I've seen they let you spread pretty big. $10-$5k and $25-$15k. Thanks.
