Broad Question about Finance Careers
I'm not sure if this really belongs here, but it seems that there's a bunch of people here that work in the finance industry, and I'm curious to hear some of your thoughts. Also, I think there's a decent number of college-aged people here that would benefit from this as well.
Basically, what are some career paths you would look into if you were in college and looking to go into finance? I know the obvious one, investment banking, but I know a lot of people in big i-banking programs and the one thing I keep hearing (along with the great $) is how much they hate their lives. Dread mondays. With that in mind, I don't think that I want to pursue investment banking. I've interned the past 2 summers in financial planning/ wealth management, but that doesn't appear to be something great to go into either as starting off in that field and building a clientele appears to be very hit or miss, especially with the proliferation of people in this area. So, the question is, what else is out there? I don't think that my bio is that important for this as it's more general, but if you think so let me know and I'll post it. One last thing, I'd prefer to be in New York, but as an opening job, I would be willing to go to another big city or possibly somewhere international like London. Thanks, Jeff |
