I hate this hand. Do you guys ever find yourself in the BB with a hand like this just praying somebody will raise so you don't have to play it? So now I'm here with this hand I hate and I flop an open-ended straight flush draw. I gotta be honest when I say I don't find myself in these kinds of situations that much so I'm not 100% on how to go about playing it. My initial thinking was to check because I'm out of position to two players and I'd like to see the turn for free (or as cheaply as possible). I don't want to think about if I bet and get raised or check-raised. The person to my right didn't show any strength and then folded to a late position pot bet. I'm always a little suspicious of people that are last to act jumping when nobody shows any strength. So I'm here with my pair of 10s and my OESFD facing a pot bet, which is essentially an all in... I also realize the I Hatebreed I doesn't have any chips and that he'd probably just push it himself if he had spades or a pair in the first place. I know he's probably not calling the original bet, but, I want to try to hammer out any doubts he may have had as to calling with any other hand. Even though it'd be correct to call in his spot with pretty much any hand at all, I got the feeling that he wouldn't do this and probably did not understand that it'd be a correct move. I raised to try to psychologically intimidate him into folding. Showing that another player was in great danger of losing before him and that if he put his money in he was probably losing too may have given him the glimmer of hope he needed to fold and see one last hand. I don't really know if that's how it went down on his end, but, I raised anyway. The question is do I want to run my hand against the original bettor? I have a feeling that the original bettor probably only has a NLD possibly with a pair. I decide I'm going to raise. I really don't know what's "proper" play with these types of hands. I do know I don't really like playing them. Opinions? |
