There is a significant difference which mentioned in my post. A player is not supposed to have the option to play an exposed card. You should have some concern that the player is looking at his other card/watching the action and then deciding whether he wants a new card or not. If it is certain that the player has not yet looked at his other card then I am inclined to agree that the card should be replaced. (obviously it should have been replaced automatically, but when that didn't happen the player should have spoken up immediately.
