Default A player rating system for poker, etc.

A rating system like in chess (but more simple) would be good for poker too. If there would be no rating system at chess, it would still work but would be rather primitive, like poker is currently.

It would show that poker is a game of skill and intelligence. One would see where one rates at as a class; one gets points according to how well one performs against other rated players - the ratings should not be visible to anyone on the table other than it could be a table for anyone rated at least as basic educated to keep the biggest fish away (responsible gambling).

The computers should have no problems in computing the ratings from the hand histories, while it's not necessary for all tables to be running rated games (so there's a lot of room here for how much it will be used). There will be an organization like FIDE in chess and similarly in other sports. They would also make sure the games running are as they should be in every way.

There could be some problems in ratings as people play different limits but the idea could be that one must move up more or less step by step as one must have a higher and higher rating to get to the higher and higher games.

The Masters tournaments will be sponsored and all tournaments have class minimums.

When the rating system gets in the rake will drop real low as it's very clear then that someone playing 1-2 limit poker a part time and paying $1000 rake per month is very sick (at online 10-20 limit poker $1000 is still sick), that he is being robbed, $100 online at that level being the most he could be taken from compared to the service he is getting (responsible business), (free support could be limited) and the lesser places with worse software, less popularity, generally ask less, though there will not be crappy softwares in any way.

No silly talk about making poker illegal. The public opinions will fully change to positive as they are based on wrong ideas, not for the reality from other parts but the missing responsibilities and clearing it to the public what poker really is.

I see it's possible to play for money and get a rating being under 14 (after one is an adult) but the limits will be low. Poker will in numbers be the most popular sport game in the world (though possibly less interesting than many other games and sports). Poker, like life, is also educational in many ways.
