with all due respect towards the OP's wife, are we assuming that she is unable to back out of her driveway without turning the wheel?

Also, if she drives a long SUV (I am guessing a Suburban), why can't she crank the wheel and take it down the curb a bit?

I suggest that if she is not able to get out of her own drive way, perhaps a smaller car is called for.

What happens if the neighbors car is on either side of his driveway parked "legally"? Does she back straight up into the front of the neighbors driveway and then turn the wheel to proceed down the street?

I will assume for the sake of arguement that parking is aloud on only one side of this narrow street. Why can't she angle out sooner and proceed?
