Default Everyday Sit-n-Go Decision. Your thoughts?

Here's a move I made in a $50+5 on Full Tilt last night. I think it's a marginal situation that could be played either way, but I'm curious of your thoughts.

There were five players left and I had approx. $2k in chips in the small blind. The button (who had a similar chip stack) made a standard 3x raise pre-flop (looking like a steal).

With 2,2 in the Small Blind, two thoughts went through my head:

1. I can fold and still be fine in chips w/ a solid chance of cashing.

or

2. Push so I can keep him from button raising. Besides, there is a good chance he will fold, but in the event he does call w/ ace/rag or even ace/king - I'm still a slight favorite.

Well needless to say he called w/ ace/queen. The flop came w/ an ace and I was done. While I think this was a marginal situation that could have been handled both ways, I think my play would work the MAJORITY of the time...and besides I was playing for 1st - not just to squeak in the money.

Your thoughts on the best play here?

Thanks,
Jeff
