Default How do I get rid of mice from under my deck?

I have a large deck (>1500sqft) and it is only about 18 incehs from the ground. After the winter, I noticed there must've been at least 10-15 mouse holes right where the fascia boards and grass meet, all around the deck. It gets pretty cold here in Toronto in the winter so I'm pretty sure that's where mice are coming for shelter.

What is the best way to get rid of them? I don't want to use rat poison because I have 2 little kids, who play out on the grass and also I don't really want all these dead mice all over my lawn. The neoghborhood I live in used to be farm land so there are probably lots of them. I guess what I want to know is if there is any way to make them not want to come live under my deck either by buying some product that is not poison and putting it around the deck or under the deck. Any other suggestions?
