Default Vegas Advice for the Tight-fisted Types?

I am headed for a weekend in Vegas for the first time since 2004 and wanted to stay and play on or near the strip. The only time I can go is in mid/late June which means I get to contend with the WSOP.

I am looking at summer + weekend + WSOP + the strip. Sounds pretty -E .

Have you ever gotten a good deal in this situation?

Is it possible to find rates less than 100$ per night?

Can you get the elusive poker rates at these peak times? (6 hours of 3-6 is fine with me, who needs sleep anyway?)

Are poker rates generally better than fishing in the deep sea of online travel sites?

Any suggestions as to where?

Would renting a car save money in the end?

Does thinking this much about travel indicate inherent pyschological deficiencies that render me unfit for gambling ?

Thanks in advance for any stories you can tell.
