pg. 169, problem 24:

my question is about his equation on how often a win comes out of pushing all in (obviously its in that situation) but the equation for the most part stays static.


the part where he talks about ivey and how often he wins if ivey calls the all-in re-raise.

"our last job is to figure out how often we win if we push and ivey calls. we know he calls about 25% of the time, and of those, he has a high pair 43% of the time, and two high cards 57%. So:

high pairs = 25% times 43% or about 11%
2 high cards = 25% times 57% or about 14%


then he says:


"we win 20 percent against the high pairs, and about 54% against the two high cards, which means:

when ivey calls, we win about 2.2% + 7.5% or about 10%

and we lost the rest, about 15%



how does that math work out?

i thought it said: high pairs = 25% times 43% or about 11%.

and then it says we win 20 percent against the high pairs.... didnt it just say 11%? not 20%?


theres obviously something im missing, explaination please.
