Default 2 river beats in a row in micro limit - can I avoid these situations?

I understand that people on this board hate people talking about suckouts and bad beats here but i am trying to figure out ways in order to prevent these. This losing streak is driving me nuts. I have to be doing something wrong. Here are two hands in a row:

Pre-flop: (9 players) hammerva is Button with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
4 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, hammerva calls, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4SB, 4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP3 checks, <font color="#cc0000">hammerva bets</font>, 2 folds, MP3 calls.

Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3BB, 2 players)
MP3 checks, <font color="#cc0000">hammerva bets</font>, MP3 calls.

River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5BB, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">MP3 bets</font>, hammerva calls.

Results in white:
<font color="white"> A 9 hearts </font>

Should I have checked on the flop with the ace on the board? Is this board to scary to throw a bet on the turn? I know I can't raise because everyone is checking around me so i am limited.

Pretty much the same thing as previous hand except I did raise pre-flop. Looking bad I have no idea if this was a bad beat or someone trump my suckout on the river. I don't know

I just wish I can learn to fold on the river. Such a stupid play to call a bet when someone checks the whole time and then bets or raises on river. YOu are beat about 95% of the time here.
