Default Another \'Where in NYC should I live\' thread

I lived in NYC last summer in the Upper East Side, and loved it. However, it was really expensive, and I'm looking for something different when I start my (semi)permanent job.

I work in midtown (5th ave and 40th) and here are somethings I'm looking for:

1. Quick commute. Either with walking distance, or a fast subway commute. In the summer, the 4,5,6 express got me there real quick.
2. Proximity to soccer fields (outdoor/turf/indoor)
3. Cost.

I don't wanna look for places in brooklyn, queens or jersey yet. Let me know if I should provide more information.

I appreciate your help.
