Found "time pot" really annoying

I regularly play at the Borgata in games with time pots and I personally feel that it would be an improvement if time pots were abolished. 99% of the players disagree with me, so I don't make a fuss about it.

I just can't keep track of when it's a time pot and when it's not. When you play in a game where they do two time pots and each pot must exceed some number of bets before it counts as a time pot, it's insanse. And God forbid there is some player who prefers to pay his own time involved in the pot. Then, five hands later, the guy who puts up the money for the time pot says "hey, I think I forgot to collect time on that second pot."

Time pots are nice when things are running smoothly, but they're just not worth the aggrevation when they're not.

Some points on chopping:

1. Chopping is an agreement between players. The casino is not involved and any arrangement is ad hoc. There are no rules governing when and how chopping should be done. The custom has evolved to where most players expect you to either always chop or always play, but I don't see why this should be. I see nothing wrong with looking at your cards, seeing Jack-four and saying "Want to chop?" The other player can always say "no."

2. When games get short handed, chopping pots is ridiculous. In three or four handed games, fighting over the blinds is half the action. If you eliminate that, there is almost no point in playing.

So some people won't chop short handed. Makes sense. But then when a game fluctuates between four, five and six handed, you can never remember when you're chopping and when you're not. Again, a simple convention has made things *more* complicated for me.

3. I don't like to be in a situation where the guy on my left does not chop and the guy on my right does chop. When this happens, I'm playing my small blind out of position against the big blind and chopping my big blind. This is a disadvantage. So, I don't like to chop with the guy on my right when the guy on my left wont chop. But then if he leaves and is replaced by someon who will chop, now I don't mind chopping with the guy on my right. Confusing.

4. So, for a long time, I wouldn't chop at all. It just made things simpler to always play. that was until I was playing in a $100-$200 O8 game with a half kill on any scooped pot where there was a flop. I called in the small blind. Big blind checked. Flop came. I bet. BB folded. So, I scooped the pot and had to put out $150 kill. So now I prefer to chop in games with a kill.
