Default Blackjack bonus - .4% edge too small for a beginner?

I'm thinking of picking up blackjack, but I've only played fake money games before. Is a .4% edge (100x bonus - .6% (dealer hits on soft 17)) big enough for a beginner to show a profit, or will I probably lose money or go broke. I have a basic strategy chart, but I do notice a fair amount of errors in my game still.
I'm looking more for something to pass the time, make money, and learn, as opposed to just making a quick profit.
